Benefits of the technology

The combination of selectable wavelengths and the ELVeS Radial® fiber family (available in slim, standard, and larger diameters ranging from 1.2 mm to 1.8 mm) enables precise adaptation to varying anatomy and clinical requirements in daily phlebology practice.

You can choose the easiest venous access, whether via 4, 5, or 6 Fr introducers or by direct puncture with 13, 14, or 16 G needles. The fibers provide highly homogeneous radial energy emission for 1- or 2ring options, tailored to the specific characteristics of each vein. Treatment can be combined at any time with other therapeutic procedures such as (foam) sclerotherapy. A standardized working protocol is ensured through the ELVeS® Signal and Segment Software Mode.

Stump length matters: With ELVeS® Radial® and its 360° ring radiation, you have full control to perform a flush ablation in the groin.

This helps prevent recurrences while also allowing treatment of the shortest vein segments or perforators anywhere in the lower superficial extremities.

biolitec® is the only company to define a short safety distance to the deep vein system in its Instructions for Use (IFU), based on conducted studies: “Do not advance the fiber closer than 0.5 cm to a junction with the deep vein system or into the deep vein system!”

What truly impresses me about biolitec is the integration of smart technology into their laser platforms. The devices offer highly intuitive energy control, real-time feedback, and an optimized wavelength mix. This level of innovation gives clinicians the confidence to perform even advanced combined procedures with remarkable consistency.

Professor Uldis Mauriņš, Surgeon, Phlebologist

The 1470/1940 nm 2ring radial laser is suitable for addressing all forms of operative truncal varicosis, perforator vein varicosis, tributary vein varicosis, as well as recurrent varicosis. When combined with sclerotherapy, it delivers results that are superior to open surgery and other catheter-based procedures in terms of functional outcome, aesthetic results, and recurrence prevention.

ELVeS® Radial®
The Original Radial

Our ongoing commitment to providing surgeons with advanced tools for the treatment of varicose veins led to the development of the ELVeS® Radial® 2ring. These fibers were specially designed with Fusion technology keeping safety our key priority. These fibers were designed to split the energy into two emission points/rings, enabling more uniform power distribution, resulting in a gentle yet highly effective vein closure.

Introducer or direct puncture – the choice is yours!

The ELVeS® Radial® 2ring slim Fiber (OD 1.2 mm) or ELVeS® Radial® 2ring swift Fiber (OD 1.5 mm) can be introduced through standard 16 G or 14 G indwelling catheters, making them ideal for smaller veins and multiple access points. A 6 Fr introducer sheath can be used to introduce the ELVeS® Radial® 2ring Fiber.

ELVeS® Radial® 2ring Pro fiber

The ELVeS® Radial® 2ring Pro fibers are specially designed to allow flushing, ablation, and aspiration during endovenous laser procedures. Thanks to biolitec® dual-ring technology, these fibers deliver precise and highly homogeneous ablation while simultaneously providing the flexibility to infuse fluids or aspirate trapped blood in tortuous veins.

Frequent Questions

What is endovenous laser treatment (EVLT)?

EVLT is a minimally invasive procedure that uses laser energy to close insufficient veins, improving blood flow and reducing symptoms such as heaviness, swelling, and visible varicose veins.

What’s the difference between EVLT, ELVA and ELVeS®?

EVLT stands for Endovenous Laser Therapy, which is a form of laser treatment in phlebology. It is also called ELVA (Endovenous Laser Ablation) – both terms are used synonymously. ELVeS® on the other hand is biolitec’s pioneering, trademarked treatment system for EVLT/ELVA, consisting of a laser with a specific wavelength combination and specialized fibers (ELVeS® Radial®) with an optimal radiation pattern as well as accessories.

What conditions are treated with biolitec’s ELVeS® solutions?

Our phlebology portfolio allows comprehensive varicose vein treatment, whether for tributary veins, the great and small saphenous veins, recurrencies & stumps as well as perforator veins.

What are the advantages of laser treatment over surgery in phlebology?

Laser therapy in phlebology avoids large incisions and wounds, reduces recovery time, and has a low risk of complications. Most patients can walk immediately after the procedure and can return to their daily activities fast.

Is laser treatment suitable for all patients?

Most patients with venous reflux are good candidates. A duplex ultrasound examination is required to determine eligibility.

As a physician, where can I learn ELVeS®?

biolitec® regularly organizes international workshops and online webinars with our laser experts, teaching both theoretical and practical fundamentals. They are designed to assist physicians learn the phlebology procedures faster and apply them in a safe way. For upcoming workshops, please contact us and reserve your spot!  Furthermore, biolitec® supports the vascular societies on major annual meetings, hosting “ask the experts” or hands-on sessions.

What makes the ELVeS® Radial® fibers better than others?

biolitec® invented the radial fiber, which allows a circumferential emission, resulting in a more homogenous vein closure. This is why radial fibers have developed to the gold standard in laser phlebology. Our proprietary ELVeS® Radial® 2ring fibers are designed to split the energy into two emission rings, enabling a more uniform power distribution, resulting in a gentler vein closure and at the same time in a more efficient procedure.

Why do you offer lasers with multiple wavelengths and different models of radial fibers?

biolitec®’s goal is to offer maximum flexibility for physicians to find the right tools for their specific patient population and each patient’s specific anatomical condition. With the LEONARDO® DepthControl, as the first laser company we offer a system combining the advantages of the best suitable wavelengths for phlebology: the established and evidence-proven 1470 nm wavelength and the innovative, very gentle 1940 nm wavelength. You can use each wavelength individually or as a blend, which allows a perfect adjustment of the therapy to different anatomical regions and patient-specific disease manifestations. This maximally versatile laser is complemented by our broad portfolio of radial fibers (Standard, Slim, Swift, Pro), making the therapy even more customizable to each patient’s clinical situation.

What is the FUSION® technology?

Our FUSION® technology does not simply glue but firmly fuse the silica glass cap to the fiber, making the loss of the cap within the vein less probable and thus serious complications during treatment as well. With us, you choose a very efficient treatment with the highest possible safety level available.
