CALA - Catheters-Laser ablation for cardiac arrhythmias

Heart problems are a common problem and atrial fibrillation is one of the most common rhythm disorders in Europe. It is estimated that about 15 million people suffer from it.

Atrial fibrillation and arrhythmias are triggered by additional electrical impulses (extra beats from the atrium).

The therapeutic approach of catheters-ablation serves to eliminate the source and pathways that cause the chaos of electrical signals in the heart. In this way, catheter-guided procedures (catheter ablation) can restore the stable sinus rhythm in the long term.

In this field biolitec® is currently developing the laser catheter ablation procedure CALA (Cardiac Arrhythmia Laser Ablation), in which the disturbing conduction paths are specifically heated by the resulting laser energy and thus inactivated in a controlled manner.

With the new biolitec® system there is no danger of overheating and thus damage to the surrounding tissue.
