biolitec® – your partner in laser urology
Benefits of the technology
Cutting-edge laser technologies, such as thulium fiber lasers (TFL), diode lasers and advanced fiber solutions, improve surgical precision, safety and overall patient outcomes.
Urological laser treatments from biolitec provide excellent hemostasis (bleeding control), efficient ablation (tissue removal), minimal surrounding-tissue damage, short catheter time, and fast recovery. In many cases, the minimally invasive procedures can be performed on an outpatient basis.
For interviews with practitioners, clinical data and more about our laser urology applications, see our publication, Laser Medicine. News (pdf).
Details on the specific treatment options:
Benign Prostate Hypertrophy (BPH)
Our fibers are designed to deliver exceptional ablation rates and excellent reliability. From enucleation with the LEONARDO® Duster fiber to vaporization with the XCAVATOR® and TWISTER fibers, biolitec® offers the perfect laser solution for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), leading to superior clinical outcomes such as excellent hemostasis, reduced catheterization time and shorter hospital stays.
Choose the right laser for your needs:
- 200 W LEONARDO® DUAL power for BPH vaporization
- LEONARDO® DusterTFL efficiency for BPH enucleation
Stone Management (Lithotripsy)
Our LEONARDO® Duster thulium fiber laser (TFL) and dedicated fibers deliver superior dusting performance and fast stone fragmentation. The comprehensive range of fibers ensures easy access and effective treatment even in challenging anatomical locations, while minimizing tissue damage and stone migration. This results in optimized stone-free rates compared to other stone management therapies.
Tumor Management
TULA® DUAL transurethral laser ablation of recurring bladder tumors
A true ambulatory procedure: gentle, fast and safe for treating non-muscle-invasive bladder tumors, particularly in elderly and frail patients, as it does not require general anesthesia. The dual-wavelength technology delivers outstanding vaporization and hemostasis.
The NHS’s GIRFT program has recommended TULA® and published a guide: GIRFT Urology: Transurethral Laser Ablation for bladder cancer pathway guide.
FLA Prostate (Focal Laser Ablation of Prostate)
Focal laser ablation (FLA) provides precise, fast and safe treatment for focal prostate tumors. This approach improves quality of life by selectively ablating only the tumor while preserving healthy prostate tissue and protecting surrounding vital structures.
Soft Tissue Ablation – Condyloma
Condyloma can be treated comfortably, thanks to the gentle tissue interaction of our lasers, resulting in smooth surfaces with virtually no superficial scarring. The reusable LOMA handpieces offer a highly cost-effective solution for surgeons.
Urinary Strictures & Upper Tract Tumors
Whether treating urinary obstruction caused by ureteral strictures or upper tract tumors, our lasers and extensive range of fibers enable safe, easy, minimally invasive procedures.
Experience maximum indication versatility with our laser portfolio.
TULA® allows us to “see and treat” a tumor straight away when we see it during (flexible) cystoscopy, avoiding a second procedure.

Products
Our user-friendly medical diode lasers and thulium fiber lasers (TFL), combined with an extensive range of specialized urology fibers, deliver maximum treatment versatility and a rapid return on investment, thanks to minimal maintenance requirements, outstanding affordability, and short procedure times.
LEONARDO DUAL 200
Powerful, versatile diode laser with a powerful 980 nm + 1470 nm dual-wavelength design. Engineered for rapid BPH vaporization and efficient soft tissue treatments.
LEONARDO® Mini Dual
Portable, affordable and truly compact: the perfect platform for in-office procedures like TULA®. With dual-wavelength technology, it delivers precise cutting and superior coagulation with less bleeding.
LEONARDO® Duster
Thulium fiber laser designed for laser lithotripsy and BPH enucleation. This device delivers 60 W of power and supports frequencies of up to 2500 Hz with pulse energies as low as 0.025 J, enabling 3-4 times faster and finer dusting than Ho:YAG lasers, along with significantly reduced retropulsion. The Duster offers outstanding flexibility through compatibility with a wide range of fiber sizes from 150 to 1000 µm.
Frequent Questions
Which conditions can be treated with biolitec®’s urology laser solutions?
Our urology portfolio addresses a wide range of conditions including benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), urology stones, bladder and prostate tumors, condyloma and other urological soft-tissue treatments.
What technology is used in biolitec®’s urology lasers and fibers?
Our systems incorporate cutting-edge diode and thulium fiber laser technology (TFL), paired with specially designed fibers (e.g. XCAVATOR®) that enable precise contact use, efficient tissue removal and optimized absorption in water and haemoglobin for a safe and effective treatment.
What advantages do laser-based treatments in urology offer compared to conventional surgery?
Laser treatments from biolitec provide excellent hemostasis (bleeding control), efficient ablation (tissue removal), minimal surrounding-tissue damage, short catheter time, fast recovery and, in many cases, outpatient or minimally invasive procedures.
Are these laser treatments suitable for high-risk patients?
Yes. Thanks to excellent hemostasis and true minimal invasiveness, our laser solutions are very well tolerated by elderly and high-risk patients, providing safe treatment options where conventional methods may carry excessive risk. For example, bladder tumor treatment with TULA® is performed in an outpatient or office-based setting under local anesthesia (no general anesthesia required). The gentle and safe nature of the procedure also allows it to be repeated easily in case of tumor recurrence.
Can biolitec’s laser technology be used for stone (lithotripsy) treatment?
Yes, with our latest LEONARDO® Duster thulium fiber laser (TFL). The advanced TFL technology delivers superior stone dusting, higher ablation rates, minimal retropulsion and better access to challenging anatomical locations compared to traditional stone lasers.
Are medical laser solutions in urology limited to large hospitals or can they be used in outpatient settings?
Our solutions enable a truly minimally invasive treatment in outpatient and office-based settings. Many procedures can be safely performed using standard scopes, often under local or minimal anesthesia, allowing outpatient care and rapid patient turnover. For example, the TULA® procedure for bladder tumours is routinely carried out as a true in-office treatment.
What support and service does biolitec provide for its urology portfolio?
biolitec offers a full-value chain approach. We do have in-house R&D, production, quality assurance and service support globally. We ensure clinicians have access to training, fibers, accessories and technical support.
As a physician, where can I learn laser urology?
We regularly organize international workshops and online webinars with our laser experts, teaching both theoretical and practical fundamentals. They are designed to help physicians learn the procedures faster and apply them in a safe way. For upcoming workshops, please contact us and reserve your spot!
As a health care professional, where can I find out more about laser urology?
A good start is our publication, Laser Medicine. News (pdf), which contains interviews with practitioners, clinical data and more about our laser urology applications. For bladder cancer treatment, you can also consult the NHS’s GIRFT program’s comprehensive publication, GIRFT Urology: Transurethral Laser Ablation for bladder cancer pathway guide.
