Ceralas-Laser
In ophthalmology, biolitec AG lasers are used in two treatments: (1) for the therapy of retina detachment with the help of photo-coagulation; (2) for the therapy of age-related macula degeneration (AMD) by photo-dynamic therapy.
Ceralas G2 - Everything in the Green Range
The green laser is the "standard too" in ophthalmologic laser medicine. Green laser light is absorbed well by blood and pigments of the retina. Heating leads to coagulation causing to stop the retinal detachment.
Ceralas I 670 - Striking New Paths
Permeability of the vitreous body is restricted, especially in older patients. The biolitec AG holds the answer: a wavelength that addresses this condition. Ceralas I 670 stands out by its excellent transmission properties, even if blood is present in the vitreous body.
The therapeutic effect can be verified better. It comes into play when white points become visible on the retina. As laser can be used very close to the macula, the clinical results are far better than the results in standard processes.
Ceralas I AMD - Upcoming Developments
The wet form of macular degeneration has been subjected to therapy only in very recent times; it is treated with photo-sensitive Visudyne®. This photo-sensitizer is first applied intravenously. The treatment starts after 15 minutes: The retina is illuminated with laser light of a 689 nm wavelength.
Ceralas I AMD is used here. The software for setting the parameters can be operated intuitively - very easily by turning the tuning knob. A quick setup and continuous control is guaranteed.
The biolitec slit lamp adaptor can be used to connect the laser to all common slit lamps. The laser is installed and aligned by trained members of biolitecs Service staff.
Ophthalmology Accessories - Perfect Guidance
Endoprobes and head ophthalmoscopes are alternative methods of guiding the laser beam in a targeted manner on to the exact operating point in the retina.
Endoprobes are also available for lasers of different suppliers in the 20 G, 25 G sizes as well as illuminated models.
